MAT VARIATIONS - classical and not so much

It can be hard to keep our mat classes interesting. We feel the need to come with “new” exercises and new versions. We often question ourselves: Are my clients getting bored? Most likely they are not, but just in case…in this session we will cover how you can keep your classes interesting. Asking the right questions will make all the difference and by using classical variations directly from the elders as well as variations that are new you can create a completely new dimension to your sessions and classes.

Pilates for athletes

Pilates was created as a form of general conditioning that allows you to do what you want to do with energy and without pain. Since Pilates strengthens and stretches the body uniformly it is especially beneficial for Athletes. Most athletes spend a lot of time on specific technique and specific strength, mobility and balance training. The training is specific to their sport or the position they play. This leads to a very unbalanced body as they only train “what they need” during their sport. General conditioning has become less important as athletes specialize more. However, this has created many injuries as parts of the body get overdeveloped and parts stay underdeveloped. Pilates can fix this. It can be the form of training that increases the athletes general conditioning, making the specific training more beneficial, creating an overall improvement in sport performance. In this workshop we will cover how you can adjust the Pilates method to address the needs of your athletes.

In this workshop we'll use the Reformer, Cadillac and Wunda Chair.
